luncheon at the Tai-Pan, Vientiane, 23 March 2001. OB was loosely
associated with Tom Dooley because Dooley occasionally referred patients
(some were wounded Pathet Lao) to OB. Left to right, Jim Michener,
Nong Vitoy, Frank Manley, Jack Finlay, Nang Jojie (Nong's wife), Bing
Belicena, and Jack's wife. The four Filipinos had not been to Laos
since their hasty departure in 1975. Nong is mentioned several times in
Dr. Charles Weldon's Tragedy in Paradise. Nong and Frank had
frequent dealings with Dooley in the early 1960s. |
